Rhodes, Greece

We are enjoying our private yacht as we sail around the Mediterranean. Wish you were here!! :)

Lindos, Greece on the island of Rhodes

Here we are as we headed to the top of the Acropolis. 300+ steps up. Of course, we ran up just to prove that we could do it!!

Rhodes, Greece

This is the bay that the Apostle Paul (not the travel agency owner Paul) hid from the Romans a couple of years ago. At least in theory!!
Hercules and his bride at the Acropolis in Lindos, Greece.

Mykonos, Greece

Meet my new friend Mr. Pelican. Friendly native. However, I didn't share my ice cream with him.

Mykonos, Greece

Walking along the shoreline downtown in Mykonos. Nice day but windy but a wallet full of cash that she couldn't spend is holding me down.

Mykonos

Picture of our ship (the Azamara Journey) docked in Mykonos. Great ship, great time.

Santorini Internet Cafe

Master blogger working on a masterpiece. Also enjoying a local beer called Mythos. Only trouble I had was getting it to change from Greek to English.

Santorini wine tasting

high on the hill, we tasted local wine of Santorini. Below is the ocean where our ship was anchored. Froze our tucas off as the weather was "alittle" cloudy. Only rains 20 days a year. We happen to be there on one of them.

Santorini

She's smiling cause she got jewelry. I'm all wet from some rain and the fact that my wallet was thinner. Windmill in the background is common on the islands. Also, alot of solar thermal used to heat their water.

Santorini

Although not a beautiful, sunny day our visit to the island was great. Beautiful colors of the houses in white with dark blue roofs or domes. She did get me to buy her jewelry here. Wallet is alittle lighter.

Santorini

Picture from ship pulling into Santorini. The ship anchors in what was originally part of the caldera of the Volcano that created the island.

Pompeii

Mosaic floor in one of the houses we walked thru on our tour. Sunken area in background is where rain water would accumulate from an open roof above. This was part of their water supply

Pompeii

Alot of tourists around the columns that used to hold up a wooden roof over the market area.

Pompeii

into the entrance of Pompeii. A place that you could spend alot of time understanding this archeological site. A time warp

Capri

The look of relief after getting thru the shops of Capri unscathed. WWWHHHEEEWWW!!!

Island of Capri

If you go to Sorrento, you have to make the trip over to the Island of Capri. Very beautiful scenic spot. Alot of shops that I can't afford. Peggy window shopped alot. Good gelato also. Better than Coronado in S.D.

Sorrento

View from our cabin overlooking the village of Sorrento

Alittle shopping

near the Spanish Steps, Peggy had to shop at one of the "outlet" malls. Picked out a hand bag that I calculated would only cost around $3,000 U. S. YIKES

Rooftop View

View from our hotel cafe where we ate breakfast. View of the City of Rome

Start of Race

10K race. Of course, I was already leading the race!!

Rome 10K race for Human Race

When in Rome, they had a 10K on Sat. night that was supposed to be in conjunction with other runs around the world. Sponsored by Nike. Also helped in preparation for the Athens Marathon which I am doing at the end of the trip.

Trevi Fountain

A romantic kiss at the Trevi Fountain with 10,000 other people. Very crowded. We also tossed coins into the fountain.

Fortress of Angelo

Interesting structure close to the Vatican. We didn't have time to go into it but would like to on the "next trip".

Tomb of Unknown Soldier

Picture taken from the top of the Hop on hop off bus. This structure is also referred to as the "Wedding Cake".

Steps to City Hall

Steps leading to City Hall of Rome. Believe they were done by Michaelangelo.

Arch of Constantine

Next to the Forum is the Arch of Constantine. To the left is the Forum area. Out of view on the right is the Coliseum
A look at the Forum area from Palatine hill. Not enough time to truly explore the Forum. If you go, make sure you have time and a guide or book of the area

Rome here we come

The mighty Coliseum, one of the Modern Wonders of the World. Took a tour which explained all that happened to this structure
